George W. "Bud" VanArsdall, Jr., 83, Burgin, husband of Martha "Bitty" Menaugh VanArsdall, died Sun., Jan. 11, 2015. Born July 4, 1931, in Mercer Co., he was the son of the late George W. and the late Martha (King) VanArsdall Sr. He was a retired farmer, member of the Burgin Christian Church, where he served as Deacon and Trustee, and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Other survivors: one daughter, Ann (Jeff) V. Chappell, Griffith, IN; one son, Thomas Edward (Suzanne) VanArsdall, Harrodsburg; four sisters, Edythe Ford, Harrodsburg, Mary Helen Adams and Ruth Ann (Jimmy) Wells, Nicholasville, and Betty (Donnie) Montgomery, Burgin; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Lou Henderson. Funeral services 11 AM Tues., Jan. 13, 2014, Ransdell Funeral Chapel, by Josh Snyder. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY. Visit. 5-8 PM Mon., Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers: James S. & Michael W. Baxter, Jeffrey Montgomery, John Myers, Eddie Horn, and Johnny Lakes. Honorary bearers will be members of the George VanArsdall SS Class, Burgin Christian Church.
