Obituary of Maxine Edith McCann

Maxine Edith McCann was called home to be with her heavenly father on December 31, 2015. She passed peacefully in her sleep at home. She was born December 19, 1928 in McCreary County, KY, the daughter of the late Cardine and Rosetta Moore of Harrodsburg, KY. She was the wife of the late Dr. John F. McCann, Sr. of Harrodsburg, KY. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and the time that she could spend with them. Her absence will be deeply felt for a long time to come. She was preceded in death by two children, Ann Combs May, and John F. McCann, Jr. She is survived by two sisters, Anna Ball of Lebanon, OH, and Pauline Handy of Lexington, KY; two living children, Jane McCann of Middlesboro, KY, and Jack and his wife Kathy McCann of Middlesboro, KY; two grandchildren, Amber Henderson of Oxford, FL, and Zachary Combs of Louisville, KY; along with one great-granddaughter Trinity Henderson of Oxford, FL; step-grandchildren Jamie and his wife Mary Jo England and Tammie England of Middlesboro, KY; step-great-grandchildren Kendra and her husband Andrew Lambdin and Christopher England of Middlesboro, KY; step-great-great grandchildren, Noah England; Journey Lambdin, and Kolby England of Middlesboro, KY. She was a graduate of University of the Cumberlands, and Danville School of Nursing. She also did volunteer work, worked for Southern Bell Phone Company, and retired from nursing after many years of service. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Harrodsburg, KY. Funeral services 11 AM Monday, January 4, 2016, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Rev. Garland Hawkins. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation 5-8 PM Sunday, January 3, 2015, Ransdell Funeral Chapel. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and nurses of the Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. Memorials are to be made to the Covenant United Methodist Church of Middlesboro, KY, and the United Methodist Church, Harrodsburg, KY.
