J. L. Walker, 83, Harrodsburg, KY, husband of 57 years to Vernetta Harley Walker, Harrodsburg, died Saturday, November 19, 2016, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville. Born August 14, 1933, in Garrard Co., he was the son of the late J. T. and Geraldine (Simpson) Walker. He was a retired IBM Inc. Technician, was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, where he had served as Treasurer, Sunday School Supt., and Sound Operator. J. L. was an Army veteran of the Korean war. Other survivors include: one daughter, Kathy W. (Keith) Smith of Harrodsburg; one son, Mark L. (Debbie) Walker of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Joyce Oakes of IN and Jeanette Miller of Danville; grandchildren, Jordan & Logan Smith of Harrodsburg. He was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Robinson. Funeral services 11 AM Wed., Nov. 23, 2016, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Lester Caldwell and Daniel Smith. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Visitation will be 5 - 8 PM Tuesday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers: Keith, Logan, & Jordan Smith, Larry Yeager, Garnett Ruble and Chester Travilian. Memorials are suggested to: Memorials suggested to a charity of one's choice.
