Extreme sadness has filled my heart upon learning of this terrible tragedy. My prayers will remain with the entire family with great hope God brings a comfort to each as only He can. Mrs. Odell was my first grade teacher at Danville Christian Academy. She was a fantastic teacher and I knew she loved me...even when I wanted to get out of my seat and socialize with the other kids. Mrs. Odell took us on a field trip to her farm and we had a blast there with her. I know she will be missed terribly but so thankful we can meet her again in Heaven. I will be praying for all her other family members and especially for her other little granddaughter who was hurt in the wreck.

Delmer was my boss from 1988-1991 at CCC in Harrodsburg. He taught me many things about being a therapist. He demonstrated both kindness and courage in helping others. I admired him as a boss and mentor and as an example of a good family man.

Family Members, please accept our sincere condolences for your tragic loss; memories from WAY BACK of Delmer in a wheel chair on crutches, playing "stick horse", electric football, riding all over Camden on my Cushman, putting out political advertisements and thinking we were the Hardy Boys as we tried to solve the disappearance (still missing) of a secretary of long time local Lawyer, a new Safeway being constructed ( body was supposedly in recently poured parking Lot) ??? Very sorry for your loss. Please know that I am and have been praying for the family. My mom Virginia Hurst was very close to the Odell's as well as the rest of my family. Delmer use to pick up and take my mom and daughter Staci to church about every Sunday...He was one of a kind! My sister Melissa is very close to Hettie.

I knew both Delmer & Deloris while at Harding. Deloris was a dear friend. We were both from Clay County, majored in education , and lived in Cathcart Hall. She was also a bridesmaid in my wedding to Doug Fairley (now deceased). We saw each other only a few times after graduation as often happens. I am so sorry for your loss. I will pray for your family.

I met your parents many years ago when Golden Corral transferred me to Harrodsburg, 1988. Delmer would eat at the steakhouse and then take his dirty dishes into the kitchen to be washed. It was too funny! He was such a nice man. I thought a lot of your parents, and it was such a shock for me to learn of this today. Although I do not live there anymore, I have wonderful memories of friends there. God be with all of you!

I work for Brookledge Horse Transportation I took one of his horses to the shed 3 days before the accident, I called him my friend and I met his wife last year, I loved them both I will miss them, he always talked about his granddaughters all of the time, I never met the Girls but I felt I knew them both, I am so very sorry for your loss I will miss him.

My wife Margaret and I were close friends of Delmar and Delores at Harding University. Delores and Margaret were dorm roommates at Harding. We all graduated from College on June 1, 1967 and two days later Delmar and Delores were in our wedding. We have special memories of our time at Harding, eating in the college cafeteria (and occasionally at a nearby restaurant), attending church services and enjoying our friendship together. Not long after we married we visited with them in KY on our return from a vacation to Michigan. It was fun spending time with them in KY, then for almost 40 years we only shared an occasional letter. We reunited at a Harding '67 Class Reunion a few years ago and it was as though we had only been apart a few years. May our God give all of you children and grandchildren comfort, His love, and blessings in the days and weeks ahead. All our love and prayers to you.

Jere, Hettie, Joel. My heart breaks for your families. Delmer and Delores touched so many people. And left an imprint in this world through their love of Christ. They lived by it and their love for everyone. How many young lives Odels have touched through counciling and her as a teacher. I remember as a child and teen being in their home. And learning about God. Going to Ebenezer church with my mom. And so many wonderful people there have made an impact on my life. But not as much as Delmer.
