Obituary of Leola Combs
Leola Day Combs, 94, Salvisa, widow of Fred Combs, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at The Willows Harrodsburg. Born January 24, 1923, in Jefferson Co., she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Anna Rebecca (Newton) Day Nichols. She was a member of the Ebenezer Church of Christ, where she had served as custodian for a number of years. Leola also worked as a private caregiver.
Survivors include: one daughter, Freida Howard of Harrodsburg; one son, Keith Combs of Salvisa; one sister, Mattie (Arnold) Eldridge of Winchester, TN; eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Gayle Darland, a grandson, Lance Darland, two sons in law, Perry Howard and Marshall Darland, four siblings, Thomas, Marion, and Raymond Day, and Ethel Sell.
Funeral services will be 2PM Sat., July 8, 2017, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Terry Morrison and John Kesel. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery, Salvisa. Visitation will be 11AM until 2PM Saturday, Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers are Scott & Chad Howard, Levi & Leighton Combs, Brady & Mason Howard, Dean Darland, and Matthew Estes. Honorary bearers are Lindsey & Kylie Howard and Tyler Estes.
