CHARLES BURTON (BURT) ROWLAND Charles Burton (Burt) Rowland, age 90, widower of Martha Jane Betts Rowland, formerly of Harrodsburg died Sunday, October 12, 2003 at the North Collier Hospital in Naples, Florida. Born November 14, 1912 in Nelson County, he was the son of the late John P. and Mary Humphrey Rowland. He attended Asbury College, was an Army veteran of WWII, a member of the VFW and American Legion, owned and operated Harrod Cleaners, former president of the Harrodsburg Kiwanis Club, former president of the Mercer Chamber of Commerce, a former Harrodsburg City Commissioner, founded RV Cablevision of Harrodsburg, was a member of the Harrodsburg Methodist Church, and attended the Family of God Fellowship in Harrodsburg and the Community Congregational Church in Naples, Florida. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Michael (Carol) Conover, Harrodsburg and Mrs. Richard (Sara Kay) Bielecki, Boerne, Texas; one sister, Mary Lee Buster, Lexington; one brother, Russell Rowland, Parma, Ohio; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Monday, October 20, 2003 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Bro. Michael Conover. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Nicholasville. Visitation will be after 5:00 pm Sunday, October 19, 2003 and after 7:30 am Monday at the chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Asbury Scholarship Fund or to the Harrodsburg Methodist Church Building Fund. Pallbearers will be Tom and Adam Bielecki, Pete, Scott, and Spencer Conover, and Chad Richards. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Howells, Dennis Lester, Frank Trisler, William “Billy” Parks, Lillie McKinney, and Charlie Carr.
