WILLIAM S. OAKS


William S. Oaks, 78, Lexington Road,Harrodsburg, KY, husband of Mildred Bryant Oaks, died Friday, April 2, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.


Born February 2, 1926 in Bell County, Kentucky he was the son of the late William U. and Maude McKeehan Oaks.


He was a retired electrical engineer for Kentucky Utilities after 39 years; a World War II Veteran of the US Navy; a graduate of Tennessee Tech University; a member of the Pinnacle Masonic Lodge in Middlesboro; a former member of Gideon International and a member, former elder and Sunday School teacher at the Morganfield Christian Church in Morganfield, Kentucky.


Survivors other than his wife include: two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Julie) Graham and Mrs. Donnie (Beth) Robison, both of Mercer County; one sister Emily Catherine Howard, Miami, Florida; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.


Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Tuesday, April 6th at the First Christian Church, 22nd & Cumberland Avenue in Middlesboro, Kentucky by Matt Robison and Steve Earl. Burial will be in the in the Middlesboro City Cemetery on Hurst Road in Middlesboro, KY.


Pallbearers are: Donnie Robison, Jerry Graham, Luke Robison, Daniel Crass, Alan Howard, and Richard Howard. Honorary bearers are Rekha Crass, Nickie Robison, Elizabeth Crass, Will Crass and Izaiah Robison.


Visitation will be Sunday, April 4th from 4 until 6 pm at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel and Tuesday from 9:00 am until the hour of service at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Gideon’s International, POB 176, Harrodsburg, KY.
