Frederick Kehl “Fred” Hilbert passed away at this home Thursday, December 14, 2023. Born in Easton, PA, he was the son of the late Kehl F. and Gladys Starner Hilbert.
In addition to his wife, Jackie Taylor Hilbert, he is survived by two sons; Kehl (Julie) Hilbert of Garrard County and Patrick (Cathy) Hilbert of Wilmore. He also has a brother, Richard Hilbert of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren: Aaron Hilbert, Megan Hilbert, Taylynn Hilbert and Erika Bottom. Three great grandchildren: Wyatt, Aurianna and Kenna; One Niece and Nephew; One great nephew; One great great great niece and nephew.
Fred was an Army veteran, and an officer of the Harrodsburg Police Department for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion and Bluegrass Modulators CB Club. He was of the Methodist Faith. Fred was on the original Pioneer Days Committee and continued to work tirelessly for many years on the festival. He also worked with the Roots and Heritage Committee. For many years he along with Mr. and Mrs. John Butler operated the Mercer Roller Rink.
Visitation will be held Monday December 18th from 5pm-8pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be Tuesday December 19th starting at 11am officiated by Dennis W. Norton and Rev Gill Duffee. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery Pavilion with Military Rites.
Pallbearers; Aaron Hilbert, Megan Hilbert, Erik Hilbert, Taylor Bottom, Ernie Kelty and Keith Hogue.
