Norman Ray White Obituary

NORMAN RAY WHITE, age 86, husband of Patsy Jean Watts White, of Harrodsburg, died Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, Kentucky. Born August 4, 1938, in Harrodsburg, to the late John Milton White and Hazel Yeast White.


Norman was a member and former Deacon of the New Providence Presbyterian Church.He had a long and fulfilling career at IBM in Lexington, where he worked until his retirement in 1993. After retiring, Norman embraced a variety of hobbies, including managing his rental properties, construction projects, assisting others, woodworking, and enjoying any project outside. He also spent time writing books for his family and friends, many of which can be found in the Harrodsburg Historical Society. A true animal lover, Norman had many dogs throughout his life.


Survivors include his wife, Patsy Jean Watts White, son, John (Gloria) White, daughters, Lou Ann Drury, Norma Jean (Chuck) Durham, and Linda Carol (Rob) Green. Nine grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jeff) Rion, Joy Landrum, Amber Drury (Paul Smith), Nikki (Jonathan) Elliott, Cara (Tyler) Wilson, Lee (Sidney) Durham, Michael (Victoria) Watts, Heath Green (Josh Shepler) and Samantha (Brevin) Charles, Seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.


He is preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth J. White and a son-in-law, Carroll S. Drury.


Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Friday November 22, 2024 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington Street, Harrodsburg KY 40330, with John David Lane officiating. Entombment will follow at Lexington Cemetery, 833 W. Main Street, Lexington KY 40508. Visitation will be Friday November 22, 2024, from 11am-1pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.


Pallbearers are: Jeff Rion, Jonathan Elliott, Tyler Wilson, Lee Durham, Michael Watts, Heath Green, Josh Shepler, Brevin Charles, John Voll and Joey Webb.


Memorials have been suggested to Mercer County Animal Shelter, 896 Moberly Rd, Harrodsburg, KY 40330 and Kentucky or Heritage Hospice, 120 Enterprise Dr, Danville KY 40422.
