Omer Sherman Casey, age 94, husband of Bettye (League) Casey, of Harrodsburg KY, died Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital. Born June 1, 1930 in Boyle County, KY, to late Omer D. and Christine (Hillard) Casey. Omer was a member and elder at Magnolia Christian Church, a Veteran, and a retired mechanic for IBM after 32 years. Omer was in the Air Force from 1951-1955.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years: Bettye Casey, who was his sole caregiver for the past few years, one daughter: Sheila Michelle (Alan) Sisk of Lexington, KY and one son: David Carrol (Sherri) Casey of Springfield, OH; three grandchildren; Matthew Sisk of Lexington KY, Casey (Josh) Bose of Louisville KY and Amanda (Jake Tateman) Casey of Springfield OH; and two great grandchildren; Delilah Casey and Bodhi Bose.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Lillie Gertrude Longworth, sister, Barbra Casey, and sister, Sarah Casey.
The funeral will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 East Lexington Street, Harrodsburg, KY with Jon Weece officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery, Salvisa KY. Visitation will be from 11:30am-2pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, January 29, 2025.
Pallbearers: Alan Sisk, Matthew Sisk, Josh Bose,Roger Hardin, Dion Long and Jack Coleman. Honorary pallbearer: Donnie Stump.
The family wants to send a special thanks to all of their friends and family who called, visited and prayed during this difficult time. Also, so many thanks to the entire staff at Haggin Hospital, for the care and love that was given to their dad during his last few days.
