Obituary of Bruce Springate

William “Bruce” Springate, 87, Harrodsburg, KY, husband of Patricia Willhite Springate, died Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, KY. Born June 10, 1937, in Sinai, KY, he was the son of the late Clinton and the late Rebecca Gillis Springate. He was the Owner & Operator of Aggie Sale Sport Shop for 44 years. Bruce graduated from Western High School, in Anderson County, went to Eastern KY University where he played basketball. He coached basketball in Breathitt and Trimble Counties before becoming the owner of Aggie Sale Sport Shop. He also served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Fairview Christian Church. Bruce was on the Danville Country Club board for most of 50 years, the Harrodsburg Industrial Board and the Athletic Dealers of America board. Bruce was an avid golfer and a collector of many things.
Survivors in addition to his wife Pat Springate, include a daughter: Sharon (Joe) Bunch of Landrum, SC; special Family and Friends, Mariano, Celia Flores & Family; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by four siblings, J.W. Springate, Bobby Springate, Clinton Ray Springate and Bonnie Ackley.
The Funeral Service to Celebrate his life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, February 1, 2025 at the Harrodsburg Christian Church, 305 South Main Street, Harrodsburg, KY with Micki McHugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Visitation will be from 11-2, Saturday also at the church.
Pallbearers will be: Marino Flores, Joe Bunch, Mack Kersey, Tony Springate, Paul Lewis, Jay Bruce Springate, David Ackley, Brent Sallee and Bobby Gene Sallee. Honorary Pallbearers: Bobby Springate, Larry Springate, Jerry Springate, Mickey Springate, Fred Rice, Bill Wickliffe and all of Bruce’s golfing buddies
Memorials have been suggested to Heritage Hospice, P.O. 1213, Danville, KY 40423.
