Obituary of Shirley Norton Claunch

Shirley Norton Claunch, widow of Marvin A. Claunch, age 88, of Irish Ridge Road, Harrodsburg KY died May 20, 2025 at Baptist Health in Lexington KY. Born September 11, 1936, in Leroy Illinois, to the late Sydney C. and Jean (Morgan) Norton. Shirley worked at Cricketeer and the Dollar General Store. She retired from the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet in Frankfort KY in 1998. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and was a Kentucky Colonel. Shirley enjoyed embroidery, where she won many awards, she loved to travel and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was survived by two daughters; Linda Boyd and Kimberly (Jeff) Poole, three grandchildren; Jason Boyd, Caleb (Chasity) Poole and Kari (Justin) Moore, three great grandchildren, Trevor Boyd, Riley Boyd and Jessie Poole and two step great grandchildren, Emma Schroeder and Avery Delamonico. She is preceded in death by two sons, Jeffery Allen Claunch and Marvin Vernelle “Marty” Claunch, one great grandson Cody Boyd and one son-n-law Wayne Boyd, sister Marjorie Smith and brother Vernelle Norton, half sister Cindy Norton and half brother Roger Norton and nephew Kevin Smith. Visitation will be Friday, May 23, 2025 from 11am-2pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington St., Harrodsburg, KY. Funeral Service will be at 2pm Friday May 23, 2025, with Hillary Claypool officiating. Burial to follow in Hopewell Baptist Cemetery.
