Mary Jeannette Johnson Bishop, 92, of Lexington and formerly of Salvisa, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025 at Hartland Park Health & Rehabilitation in Lexington.
Born August 2, 1932 in Mt. Sterling, KY, Mary was the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Ratliff Johnson. A graduate of Mt. Sterling High School, she served her family and community as a devoted homemaker and as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Salvisa. She was known for her kindness to others both in word and deed.
Mary is survived by her daughter Sally Baker and her husband Jeff of Lexington, KY, and two grandsons Nicholas Baker and James Baker, both of Lexington; her sister Linda Norris (Jack) of Speedway, IN; and several special nieces. Including her parents she was preceded in death by her son Leslie H. “Chip” Bishop, Jr., her former husband Leslie H. Bishop Sr., brothers John Johnson and Jimmy Johnson, and sister Dorothy Greenwade.
Funeral services 1:30 PM, Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY, by Terry Morrison. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY. Visitation 12:00 PM until 1:30 PM, Thursday, Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
