James Lester Wheeler Obituary

James Lester Wheeler, 93, Harrodsburg, widower of Lois Jane Catlett Wheeler, died Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at The Willows of Harrodsburg. Born November 14, 1931, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Dwight and Vergie (Rogers) Wheeler. James was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a lifelong farmer. He was a long time member of the Bethel #1 Cumberland Presbyterian Church and recently attended the Harrodsburg Christian Church, where he attended as a child. He served his church as an elder for 60 years and was a member of the Gideon’s for 31 years. He also served on the Conservation Board for some 32 years. He and Lois loved to travel; they have been to all fifty states and several foreign countries. The most important thing to him was Faith and Family.


Survivors include: two daughters: Kim Davis (Bob) of Harrodsburg, KY and Jayne Wheeler (Steve) of Independence, KY, and one son: Steve Wheeler (Tracy) of Mason, OH; he also has six grandchildren: Colby Davis (Brandy), Will Davis (Carolann), Sheldon Wheeler, Jared Wheeler (Rebecca), Cassidy Kastensmidt (Trent) and Max Smith. Four Great Grandchildren: Lucy Davis, Luke Davis, Kingston Davis, and Everly Davis and Coming Soon; Kohen Kastensmidt; Neice & Nephew, Vicky Moore & David Wheeler. James was preceded in death by his wife of almost 72 years, Lois Jane Catlett Wheeler and his brother and sister in law, George and Betty Wheeler.


Funeral services will be conducted by Micki McHugh 1 pm Monday; September 15 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY. Visitation will be from 11 am - 1 pm Monday, also at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.


Pallbearers will be: Colby Davis, Will Davis, Sheldon Wheeler, Jared Wheeler, Max Smith and Nicholas Moore.
