We have been going to Lake Cumberland for years, Since 1980 at least. Wes and Joan would come pick us and other lake friends (Sniders and Mattinglys to name a few) on the pontoon! They would take us for hours to places we had never been too and falls we didn’t know where there. The memories will last a lifetime. Our son Cody, his wife Kathleen and children would stay up at the lodge on the 4th of July and was also blessed to have their special time with Wes, Joan, their daughter Lesley Ann and grandson on the 4th of July. It’s just takes minutes or hours when you are with this family to feel blessed, loved and cared about each time you see them, even if it’s once a year .

I first met Wes back in 1983 when Joan and I, one summer, rented a small house in Bardstown. I remember one Saturday morning I got up to fix breakfast. I remember Wes making the comment, "Do you do this every morning?" I told Wes yes. Till this day, I don't know if Wes was giving me a compliment or if I was disturbing him and Joan from sleeping in late on Saturday lol ... I remember how fortunate Joan was to have met this wonderful, charming, caring man who lit up Joans eyes! Wes and Joan's love never wavered; for their love for each other continued throughout their beautiful relationship and marriage. Wes was a great man, this is a tragic loss for everyone. We rent a property from him and he was always such an amazing and caring individual. We always say we got the best when it came to having a landlord. Our family is praying for everyone. He will be missed greatly, I know we will miss seeing him and having conversation the first of the month.

Wes was driving by our house on Mercer Ave one time and saw that the truck cover had been loosened by wind. We were away at the time. He stopped and reattached the cover. I found this out when he stopped again wh. Wwe got back home. This was greatly appreciated and a great indication of his care for others.

In all my life growing up with my cousin Wesley, never met a better man, and special person I was always proud to call family. Wesley's laughter and joy was contagious and an honor to be part of, having Wesley in my life made my life better. I love you Cousin Wesley and will miss you always.
