Esther F. Carey, age 83, widow of Omer Carey Jr., of Harrodsburg died Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY. Born July 24, 1942 in Harrodsburg, KY, to the late Jesse W. and Hazel Lee (Wells) Tate. She was a homemaker whom loved to spend as much time with family and friends as so possibly could, she loved to cook for everyone and of course loved to eat. Esther took a huge step just 2 short weeks ago, and accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into her heart.

She is survived by two daughters: Sheila Hanes and Eva (Paul) Hensley both of Harrodsburg, KY; one brother in law; Larry Richards and one sister in law Karen Tate; two grandchildren; Stacy Hensley and Michael Hensley; four great grandchildren Katelyn Hensley, Max Hensley, Eddie Hensley and Lilly Hensley; and three great great grandchildren one of which was named after her; Evalynn Lee, Ava Lee and Brinley Esther Gill.

She is preceded in death by Son, Bobby Carey Jr., Brother, A.J. Tate, Sister, Virgie Richards, Sister, Bonnie Richardson, and Sister, Susie Merriman.

The funeral will be held 1pm on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington Street, Harrodsburg, KY, 40330 with Greg Collier officiating. Burial will follow in Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery, Harrodsburg KY, on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Visitation will be Monday October 27, 2025 from 5pm-8pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers: Christopher Richardson, Max Gill, Jimmy Richardson, Luke Richardson, Michael Paul Hensley, Jeremy Hicks, Nathan Richardson and Chris Lee. Honorary Pallbearers: Paul Parks, Jimmy Collier, Haley Goodlett, Veronica Wofford, Hannah Shepperson, Shannan Dorsey, Jim Merideth and Blair Linton.

Memorials have been suggested to Mercer Co. Animal Shelter 896 Moberly Rd, Harrodsburg, KY 40330 in memory of Esther.
