Louis Warren Showalter Obituary

Louis Warren Showalter, age 69, of Lancaster died Monday, November 17, 2025 at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. Born October 14, 1956 in Lexington, KY to the late Nimrod and Mary Elizabeth (Wheat) Showalter. He was a retired painter and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Louis loved his boat Banana Wind, where he had docked at Kamp Kennedy on Herrington Lake. He lived for the lake and loved Jimmy Buffett and traveling to Key West when he could.


He is survived by; three sisters: Patsy (John) Jasper and Judy (Charles) Palmer-Williams both of Lexington, KY and Donna (Kenny) Hendricks; six nieces and nephews; Keith Palmer, Gina Palmer-Clements, Jaime Clarkson, Christy Surbaugh, Jenny Jasper and Stefan Ray.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Nimrod and Mary Elizabeth (Wheat) Showalter, brother, Thomas Finnell and brother in law, Julian Palmer.


The funeral will be held 1pm on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington Street, Harrodsburg, KY with Mickey Hyder officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg KY. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.


Pallbearers: John Jasper, Keith Palmer, Mike Goocher, Todd Strassburg, John Tudor and Don Mitchell. Honorary Pallbearers: Mark Moody, Stewart McIntosh and all of his Herrington Lake Friends and Family.


Memorials have been suggested to the Woodstock Spay & Neuter Clinic, 843 Lane Allen Rd, Lexington, KY 40503 and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Kentucky-Tennessee Chapter, P.O. Box 91891 Washington, D.C. 20090-1891.
