Jesse Coy Obituary

Jesse Alexander Coy, age 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 24, 2025 at his home in Harrodsburg, KY, with his family by his side. Born September 9th, 1952, he is the son of the late Ira Jesse Coy and Stephanie “Stella” (Zuback) Coy.

Born in Lexington, KY, and spending his formative years in Cynthiana, KY, Jesse was the middle child, tagging along with his older brothers, Zeke and Gary, while keeping a watchful eye on his younger sisters, Stephanie and Connie. He graduated from Harrison County High School, where he was a standout football and baseball player for the Thorobreds.

A veteran of the United States Navy, he proudly served his country and was commended with praise from his superior as a tactful leader, fast and effective ordanceman, and someone who takes considerable pride in his work as well as his appearance. Jesse fell in love with all things airplanes on an aircraft carrier in the South Pacific and channeled that love into a career spanning 40 years. As an agent and supervisor for Piedmont Airlines, US Airways, and American Airlines, he continuously worked to assist anyone he came across with a calm, compassionate, and understanding heart.

He and his wife, Julie, settled in Woodford County, where he raised his three children, Jason, Garnett, and Emily. A steadfast commitment to support their passions, he was a present, calm, and steady force behind them all. A deacon at First Christian Church of Versailles, he grew in his faith and reaffirmed his commitment to serving others with humility and grace.

Jesse retired from the airlines and moved to Harrodsburg, KY, but the “retirement” only lasted one weekend. He promptly joined the Transportation Security Administration at Bluegrass Airport and proudly served his country for an additional ten years before hanging up his badge to be a full-time Grandfather. Affectionately called “Pamps,” he enjoyed watching Kentucky Basketball and attending every baseball game, soccer match, school function, community theatre play, recital, and backyard barbecue possible, beaming with pride for each of his ten grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years: Julie Forrest (Kearns) Coy, two sons: Jason Alexander Coy (Trista), Garnett Thomas Coy (Agata), one daughter: Emily Beth Terrell (Chad), two brothers: Walter “Zeke” Coy, Gary Coy, two sisters: Stephanie Clifford, Constance “Connie” Coy, and ten grandchildren: Jack, Jay, Lily Jess, Isla, Stella, Jude, Harrison, Lucy, Rosie, and Sophie.

Visitation will be held at Ransdell Funeral Chapel in Harrodsburg, KY, on Friday, November 28th, from 11:00-12:00 with a service led by the Reverend Brian Kearns to follow. The burial will be held immediately after at 1:30 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
