Dorothy “Gayle” Mayes, age 78, of Harrodsburg, wife of Orban Wayne Mayes, died Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Baptist Health in Lexington, KY. Born November 12, 1947 in Harrodsburg KY, to the late James H. and the late Ola Mae (Rhinehart) Huffman. She is a member of Cornishville Christian Church and was a Administration Clerk for Mercer County Health Department for many years. Gayle loved playing bridge or cards of any kind.

She is survived by her husband: Orban Wayne Mayes two sons: Chris Mayes (Daphine) and Jarrod Mayes (Andrea Kidd) all of Richmond, KY; two brothers: Bob Huffman of Salvisa, KY and Paul Huffman of Harrodsburg, KY; and three grandchildren; Alex, Abbey and Cole Mayes.

Funeral Service will be 1pm on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington Street, Harrodsburg, KY with Terry Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg KY. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm Monday January 12, 2026 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers: Garland Vanzant, Tim Bottom, Jerry Bottom, Kenny Milburn, Alex Mayes and Danny Mayes.
