Jack Tucker Searcy, Jr., born May 18, 1943, son of the late Jack Tucker Searcy, Sr. and Anna Lucielle Sloop Searcy, passed away January 21, 2026, after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Glenna Hutchison Searcy his sister, Patricia Ann Searcy Blackburn Whitley. Jack is survived by a brother, Michael Searcy of Burgin, four sons, Jeff (Melody) of Lexington, Chris (Joanna) of Danville, John (Patsy) of Nicholasville, Jack Tucker III of Danville, seven grandchildren (Brandi (David), Max (McKenna), Wyatt (Riley), Lily, Hailey, Hannah, and Ellie Kate (Matthew)), and five great-grandchildren (Toby, Lex, Salem Issac, Willow, and Pearl).
Jack was a gifted tradesman and a master mechanic. No matter the skilled discipline he was capable of getting the job done and done well. Jack started his working life at an early age as a helper to his father, a Master Plumber. The lessons learned in the plumbing trade helped Jack transition to an early career as a machinist, working first for the Lexington Herald-Leader and later for the Cincinnati Inquirer. As the newspaper industry transitioned away from typesetting machines (Jack had become an acknowledged expert in the repair of Linotype machines), Jack made the decision to return to Central Kentucky and took a position as an electrician at the new Firestone plant in Danville. After more than ten years as a maintenance supervisor with the successor to Firestone, ATR, he moved on the Danville Whirlpool factory as a member of the maintenance team. Jack ended his working days as a state employee, serving as a Child Support Enforcement Agent.
Jack enjoyed the outdoors, particularly life on the lake where he built and maintained a large boat dock that hosted friends and family for swimming, jet skiing, and his famous beer cooked hot dogs. He was an avid fisherman and participated in many fishing tournaments. Additionally, Jack was a skilled private pilot who attained an instrument rating and often flew family and friends around the state, region and even internationally.
A remembrance of Jack and his life will be held at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY, Friday, January 30, 2026, 4 PM; with a gathering of friends and family from 3-4 PM.
Memorials are suggested to Heritage Hospice in his memory. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family on Jack’s Tribute Wall at www.ransdellfuneralchapel.com.
