Donald Elwood “Don” Long, age 80, of Danville, husband of Phyllis Baker Long, died Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Saint Joseph Hospital of Lexington, KY. Don was born May 5, 1945 in Anderson County, KY. He is the son of the late Elwood and Margaret (Cheatham) Long. Don earned a bachelor degree from Eastern KY University and was the Owner & Operator of Long Auto Sales, then dabbled in real estate in his later years. Don was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he was formerly a Deacon. He enjoyed water skiing and playing pool in his younger years which turned to playing cards at senior citizens and loving on grandchildren.
Don is survived by his wife: Phyllis (Baker) Long and two daughters: Blair Phelps (Michael) of Lexington, KY and Angie Jones (Darren) of Mt. Sterling, KY; one brother: Eddie Long (Peggy) of Harrodsburg, KY; He also has six grandchildren: Abram Phelps, Myla Phelps, Elliot Phelps, Norah Phelps, Parker Jones and Alexis Jones; one Great Grandchild, Carter Rose Jones.
The funeral will be held 2:30 pm on Tuesday, February 24 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington St., Harrodsburg, KY with Jonathan Johnston and Terry Lester officiating. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Visitation will also be Tuesday from 11 am until the time of service.
Pallbearers will be: Abram Phelps, Elliot Phelps, Parker Jones, Justin Morgan, Greg Ross, Charlie Cheatham and Chris Hart. Honorary Bearers will be the Members of His Sunday School class at Harrodsburg Baptist and their Traveling Friends.
