Genevieve Hensley, age 79, of Salvisa, KY, widow of Charles Thomas Hensley, died Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center of Danville, KY. Genevieve was born December 17, 1946 in Rockcastle Co., KY to the late William and Nancy (McDaniels) McFerron.
She was a former Mercer Co School System Bus Driver and Custodian and was co-owner of the Hensley’s Gun Shop for many years. Genevieve was a member of Herrington Lake Pentecostal Church, Strathmore's Who's Who, and the American Gunsmith Association.
She is survived by: one daughter, Kathy Reed of OH; two sons, Wayne Taylor Jr. and Timmy (Carolee) Taylor, both of Mercer Co.; one brother, Charles McFerron of Mercer Co.; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Genevieve was preceded in death by three sisters, Geneva Pulliam, Jeanette Miller, and Pearl Votaw.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY, with Larry Holbrook officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville, KY. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11 am until 1 pm.
Pallbearers are: William & Charles McFerron, billy Votaw, Jay Miller, Ronnie Pulliam, and Keith Taylor.
