Carlton Ray Mayes, age 86, widower of Nellie Jo Mayes, of Harrodsburg KY, died Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at home in Harrodsburg, KY. Born November 30, 1939 in Harrodsburg, KY to the late Everett and Nettie (Carpenter) Mayes. Carlton was a lifelong farmer. He raised cattle, horses, grew tobacco, hay and gardened. He loved anything history related, coon and squirrel hunting but most of all his coon dogs.

He is survived by one daughter: Sally Miller and one son: William "Billy" Mayes; two grandchildren; Laura Elizabeth Mayes and Olivia Grace Miller; son in law, Dale Miller; daughter in law, Felecia Mayes; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death his Son, Richard Mayes, and Brothers, David, Donnie & Marvin Mayes.

The funeral will be 1pm on Friday, May 8, 2026 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 E. Lexington Street, Harrodsburg, KY with Terry Morrison officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg KY. Visitation will be Friday May 8, 2026 from 10am-1pm.

Pallbearers: Chris Noel, Randy Mayes, James Floyd, Jess Woodrum, Dale Miller and Matthew Sieger.
