David Hartman, age 78, husband of 56 years to Dorothy Ann Hartman passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at his home in Harrodsburg, KY. David was born Tuesday, September 30, 1947 in Elliott County, KY. He is the son of the late Ralph David and Mary Ellen Buckner Hartman Owens. David worked at the Cudahy and Dairymen plant until its closure. He then worked as a security guard and was a general contractor for 25 years. He enjoyed the outdoors cutting wood, squirrel hunting, as well as ginseng and arrowhead hunting.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Debra (Shawn) Williams of Stanford, KY, Jennifer Cooper of Lexington, KY and Angela Coslow of Harrodsburg, KY; five brothers, Roy (Pat) Hartman of Liberty, Ky, Mike (Mona) Hartman, Paul Hartman, Watt Hartman, and Charles (Elizabeth) Hartman all of Harrodsburg, KY; four sisters, Flora Jean Moore Smith, Elma Faye Raley, Wyonnette (Terry) Camden and Ruth Gray all of Harrodsburg, KY; five grandchildren, Stefanie (Lucas) Claunch, Rebekah Parker, Shiloh Patten, Kaila Carey, and Sarah (Evan) Russell; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Dean; three brothers, his twin Jerald Hartman who died at birth, Darrell Hartman, and Ronnie Hartman; and two sisters, Annie Belle Raley and Emmie Sue Moore.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, 345 East Lexington Street, Harrodsburg, KY with Michael Conover officiating. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, KY. Visitation will be from 11 am until 1 pm, Thursday, Ransdell Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be given to Ransdell Funeral Home to cover burial and funeral expenses as David did not have life insurance or funds set aside to cover funeral and burial costs.
