Charles E. McMurry, Jr., age 75, Harrodsburg, husband of Hattie Claunch McMurry, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Saint Joseph Hospital, Lexington, KY. Born August 9, 1934 in Salvisa, KY, he was the son of the late Charles E., Jr. and Ella Hazel Walters McMurry. He was a retired school teacher and served in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church. Charles was a former Deacon and Song Leader at the Benton Baptist Church, and former Song Leader, Teacher and Deacon at the Pioneer Baptist Church. Other survivors include: two daughters: Lesa (Billy Mac) Gritton of Harrodsburg, Lana (Kevin) Short of Danville, grandchildren: Stephen Coslow; Kristyna Coslow; Adrianna (Brian) Devine; Brenan Short; Justin Short; Ryan Short; step granddaughter, Sarah Gritton; great grandson: Lane Royalty; step great granddaughter: Trinity Chenault. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 12 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Steve James with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers will be Grandchildren. Honorary bearers: Lonnie Campbell, Leon Coleman, Bobby Campbell, Mike Conover, Marion Souder, Jimmy Sexton, Mac Layton, J. L. Royalty, Gladys Walker, James Lee "Punkin" Vandiver, Jimmy Noel, Arvid Tackett, Jack Pearson and Dalton Jones Visitation will be Friday, June 11 from 5 - 8 PM at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY. Memorial contributions may be sent to American Heart Association or Kidney Fund
