Obituary of William Garland Yankey

William Garland Yankey, age 87, of Harrodsburg, husband of Frances Keller Yankey, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012. Born July 6, in Washington County, he was the son of the late Bryan and Iva (Cocanougher) Yankey. He was a US Army veteran and was a retired farmer. He was an Elder of the Harrodsburg Christian Church, past chairman of Mercer Soil Conservation, a past officer at KY Farm Bureau and was a member of VFW and American Legion. Survivors include: his wife: Frances (Keller) Yankey; two sisters, Ruby Helen Carpenter and Emily Sue Bottoms, both of Perryville; one brother, Charles Yankey of Danville; two grandchildren, Phillip Zachary Jordan Yankey and Ansley Paige Yankey. He was preceded in death by a son, William Dwight Yankey. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 15, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Mark Thompson and Phil Williams. Burial will follow at the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are: Chad Carpenter, Scott Bottoms, Pete Yankey, Roger Yankey, Roy Yankey, Bill Burgin, Charlie Terry, Jeff Noel and Todd Powell. Visitation will be Saturday, January 14, from 5-8pm at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg.
