Arvin Short, age 85, Salvisa, died Thursday, March 1, at the Saint Joseph Hospital, Lexington, KY. Born March 21, 1926 in Mercer County, to the late Benjamin and Cokie (Carrow) Short. He was the loving husband of 65 years to Katherine Goodpaster Short. He was a member of the Clay Lick Methodist Church. Arvin served during World War II in the Navy where he received Meritorious Commendation for boiler repairs he made during battle on the U.S.S. New Jersey. He was a retired boiler operator from Kentucky Utilities, a long time farmer and enjoyed woodworking and working on cars. Survivors include: his wife: Katherine Short, daughter: Donna Short Green and son: Arvin Wayne "Buddy" (Glynda) Short; brother: Carl Short; Five Grandchildren, La-Neen (Johnny) Brown, Leigh-Ann (Keith) Miller, Letha Bradshaw, DeWayne (Connie) Short and Daniel Short; Four Great Grandchildren, Kynleigh Grace Miller, Presley Lynn Bradshaw, Beau Thomas Brown and Peyton Leigh Bradshaw. Funeral services will be 2 PM, Monday, March 5 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Terry Reffett and Anthony Cleary. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are: DeWayne Short, Daniel Short, Keith Miller, Johnny Brown, Connie Short, Leigh-Ann Miller, La-Neen Brown, Letha Bradshaw, Kynleigh Grace Miller, Presley Lynn Bradshaw, Beau Thomas Brown and Peyton Leigh Bradshaw. Honorary Bearers are Curtis Currens, Lloyd Duncan, Tommy Egbert, Eddie Thompson, Garnett Lynn Robinson, Kenny Goodpaster, John Alvin Goodlett, Herman Shyrock, Gary Hughs, Joe Hawkins and Randy Brackett Visitation will be Sunday, March 4; 5-9 PM at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY. Memorial contributions may be sent to American Lung or American Heart Associations.
