Obituary of William C. Hatfield

William C. Hatfield, age 88, widower of Nancy Woods Hatfield, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, KY. Born July 18, 1921 in Louisville, he was the son of the late William Conrey and Sarah Love Hatfield. He was a graduate of Louisville Male High School and attended the University of Louisville. During World War II he served as a medical technician in the U. S. Army, in England, Italy and North Africa. He made nine trips across the Atlantic on hospital ships bringing wounded soldiers home. He was a retired IBM employee and member of the Second Presbyterian Church where he was a choir member and active volunteer. Survivors include: two sons: Thomas W. (Cynthia) Hatfield and William (Carol) Hatfield, Jr. both of Lexington, Grandchildren: Alison (Seth) Kendrick, Lane Bennet Hatfield, Lindsey Lee (Nathan) Bowman; and Taylor A. Hatfield; Great Grandchildren: Madison Taylor Bowman, Madison Hatfield, Chloe Hatfield, Ellie Hatfield and Payton Kendrick, and a niece: Margaret Lynn Shaw. He was predeceased by a grandson: Sean C. Hatfield. Graveside service to be announced at the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, by Bill Silvanik.
