Virginia " Penny" Elizabeth Phillips, age 84, Harrodsburg, widow of William E. Phillips Phillips, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at her home. Born January 15, she was the daughter of the late Elvin and Susie Louise (Mitchell) Slaughter. She was a retired Haggin Hospital nurse, having worked there for 34 years, and was a Wal-mart clerk for 18 years. Penny was a member of the Deep Creek Baptist Church and was a charter member of the VFW Ladies Auxilary. Survivors include: two daughters, Sally Sue Isham of Harrodsburg and Joyce (Frank) Yocum of Burgin; six grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Clay, Melissa (Lamont) Linton, Clay Bradford, Ashley (Todd Palmer) Isham, Daisey (Rodney) Settles, and Todd Yocum; five great grandchildren, Allyson Davis, Jourdan Clay, Gracie and Jackson Settles, and Brooke Yocum; and a special companion, Wally. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel with burial in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Monty Trower, Todd Palmer, Arvie Mudd, Scott Clay, Lamont Linton, Eddie, Phillip, and Tony Young. Honorary bearers are: Michelle Clay, Melissa Linton, Clay Bradford, and Ashley Isham. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 - 8 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
