Earl D. Darland, 68, Nicholasville, widower of Ann Miller Darland, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the V. A. Medical Center, Lexington, KY. Born April 10, 1942 in Harrodsburg, KY, to the late Benjamin Franklin and Ray Evelyn (Devine) Darland. He served in the Army during Vietnam War, was a retired Lexmark International employee and a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. Survivors include: two children: Trish (Gerald) Claunch and Doug (Jamie) Darland of Harrodsburg; three sisters: Margaret Ward and Gloria Jean Murphy of Harrodsburg, Ruth Hatter of Danville; five brothers: Connie Darland, Dale Thomas Darland of Harrodsburg, Marvin Darland of Lexington, Floyd Darland and George Darland of IN; two Grandchildren, Jeremy (Stephanie) Claunch and Celess Darland, two great Grandchildren, Landan Claunch and Kinsley Claunch; two Step Grandchildren, William Troy Riley and Gary Dale Cox and two Step Great Grandchildren, Emelie and Danielle Cox; Several Nieces & Nephews. Earl was predeceased by a sister, Virginia “Sis” Matherly, a brother, J. B. Darland and an infant grandson, Brandon Claunch. Funeral will be 11 AM, Saturday, December 11 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by David Collier and Barry Harmon. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg. Pallbearers are: Mike Ward, Gary Watts, David Milburn, Kevin Darland, Don Matherly and Todd Boyd. Visitation will be Friday, December 10, 5-8 PM at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY. Memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the MSI Haiti Fund, P.O. Box 4907 Oneida TN, 37841.
