George WashingtonG.W. Barnes, 79, Harrodsburg, husband of Betty Jo Long Barnes, died Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Harrodsburg Health Care Center.
Born February 23, 1932 in Harrodsburg, KY, to the late John and Etta (Tyler) Barnes. He was a retired Hallmack employee and a Farmer. G.W. was a member of the Berea Christian Church.
Survivors include: his wife: Betty Jo (Long) Barnes, a daughter: Kathy (Dan) Whittaker and son: George Melvin (Melody) Barnes of Mercer County; two sisters: Ina Pendegrist of Perryville, Virginia Curtsinger; and one brother: Elmer Barnes of Mercer County; three Grandchildren: Brian Stewart, Brent Stewart and Rebekah Barns and Four Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Monday, June 13 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by John Westerfield and Elwood Norton. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are: Jeff Bradley, James Barnes, James Brooks, Bruce Hogue, Joe Smith and Chad Pinkston.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 12 from 5-8 pm at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY.
