Obituary of Mary Frances Yankey Moore

Mary Frances Yankey Moore, Moore Lane, Harrodsburg, died at her home on Saturday, June 11, 2011.
One of fourteen brothers and sisters, she was born December 3, 2916 in Deep Creek in Washington County. Her father, James DeBo Yankey, was a farmer, and her mother, Myrtle Edwards Yankey, had been a teacher.
Mary Frances married Thomas I. Moore of Harrodsburg, KY, in 1954. They were married for over 50 years until the death of Tom in 2008. They had two children, Francis "Frank" Edwards Moore of Vero Beach, FL, and Anne Thomas Moore (Paul) Cox, of Lexington, KY.
Mary Frances was a teacher for over 30 years. She taught in Junction City, KY, Mt. Washington, KY, and for over 30 years at the Harrodsburg Elementary School, Harrodsburg, KY. Following her retirement, she worked 12 years as a guide for Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill in Mercer County, KY.
Mary Frances and Tom were faithful members of the United Presbyterian Church in Harrodsburg, where they were involved with many church activities and events.
In addition to her children, she is survived by: two brothers, Billy Rue (Mary) Yankey and Lowell Thomas (Betty Lou) Yankey; seven grandchildren, Christa Meredith Cox, Susan Anne Moore, Megan Thomas Cox, Katherine Lea Moore, Marilyn Elizabeth Moore, Meredith Hope Moore, and William Paul Cox.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at the United Presbyterian Church, Harrodsburg, by Reverends Andy and Stephanie Wing. Visitation will be from 11 AM until 12 noon Tuesday at the church. Burial is in Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are Tommy, Mike, Roger, and Charles Yankey, Brad Noel, and Tim Lanham.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Cancer Society, or the United Presbyterian Church of Harrodsburg.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, is in charge of arrangements.
