JAMES “LIGHTNING” V. DEARINGER James “Lightning” Dearinger, 75, 245 Allene Drive, Danville, husband of Joy R. Noe Dearinger, Danville, died Saturday, January 3, 2004 at the VA Medical Center – Cooper Drive, Lexington after a long illness. Born October 19, 1928 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Dave and Saddie Springate Dearinger. He was a retired self-employed barber, a US Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the VFW and American Legion, and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. Survivors other than his wife include: one son, Marvin Lee Dearinger, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; a daughter, Angie Gail Compton, Harrodsburg, two step-daughters, Paula Tatum, Danville and Mary Alice Carmickle, Middleburg, and three grandchildren, Issac Compton, Harrodsburg, Ashley Douglas and Madison Tatum, Danville. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Dearinger, William Dearinger, and Edmund Cummins and two sisters, Mable Fourman and Peggy Baker. Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 pm Tuesday, January 6th at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Dr. Robert Defoor and Clyde Strunk. Burial will be in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Mercer County with military rites. Pallbearers will be Garnett Tatum, Jimmy Carmickle, Richard Compton, David Noe, Shawn McGuire, and David Darland. Honorary bearers will be Bob Martin, Charlie Carr, Jim Gaskin, J.B. Sparrow, and David Campbell. Visitation will be after 5:00 pm Monday and after 7:30 am Tuesday at the chapel.
