Obituary of Charlie Noel

Charles H. Charlie Noel, Jr., 88, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at the V.A Medical Center, Lexington, KY. A native of Harrodsburg, he was born July 30, 1923 to the late Charles H. and Mollye Frances (Whitenack) Noel.
He attended Centre College before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He continued his studies after the war at the University of Kentucky where he was a proud member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
Charlie owned Noel's mens clothing store in Harrodsburg, was president of the Harrodsburg Chamber of Commerce, a charter board member and executive secretary of the outdoor drama, Home is the Hunter and The Legend of Daniel Boone and a member of the local industrial development corporation. He and his family later moved to the Washington, D.C. area where he was a director of the Menswear Retailers of America and the Executive Director of the Suburban Newspapers of America. He was a member of the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. Charlie was so happy to move back to his beloved Kentucky in 1986 where he continued to work until he was 80 years of age.
He was married to the late Mary Boone Boonie Dickston Noel of Lexington. He is survived by his daughters, Lou Boone Noel and Mary Elizabeth Noel of Lexington and many loving friends.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, December 26 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Phil Williams and Julie Keightley. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are: Bill Wickliff, Keith Batterton, Jack Prewitt, Bill Edwards, Allen Whitenack, and Doug Greenburg
Visitation will be Monday, December 26 from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel,
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Honor Flight of the Bluegrass or Thomson Hood VA Center.
