Obituary of Rev. Robert O. Fitts

Reverend Robert Orus Fitts, age 98, of Richmond, formerly of Harrodsburg, widower of Velois Sinkhorn Fitts, died Tues., January 3, 2012, in Richmond. Born May 29, 1913, in Kingston, Rhode Island, he was the son of the late Frank Orus and Beatrice (Thompson) Fitts. He was a retired minister, having served in Kentucky and Ohio, and had been a professor at Clear Creek Bible College for 24 years. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Carson Newman College and his Master's Degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Additionally, Rev. Fitts was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church and was a retired US Army Major and veteran of WWII. Survivors include: two daughters, Suzanne Chase Fitts Mantooth of Morehead, KY, and Deborah Adams Fitts Condley of Winchester, KY; two sons, Dr. John O. Fitts of Bowling Green, KY, and Douglas A. Fitts of Cumberland Gap, TN; one sister, Imogene Fitts Hall; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Harris Fitts. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Friday, January 6, 2011, at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church by Rev. Don Mantooth. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, with military rites. Pallbearers are Clay Condley, Doug Fitts, Jim Thompson, Mark Mantooth, Don Mantooth, and John Fitts. Honorary bearers are grandchildren. Visitation will be 11 AM Friday, January 6, 2011, at the Harrodsburg Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be sent to Harrodsburg Baptist Church Beyond Measure Fund, 312 S.
