WALTON KENNETH BURNS Walton Kenneth Burns, 77, 1002 Ridgeway Drive, Harrodsburg, widower of Pauline Morris Burns, died Thursday, January 8, 2004 at his residence after a long illness. Born November 9, 1926 in Washington County, he was the son of the late J.W. and Ora Lee Russell Burns. He retired as Mercer County Sheriff in 1992 after serving three terms in office, was a former service station owner and operator, a graduate of Mackville High School, a U.S. Navy veteran, member of the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association, member of Mercer Masonic Lodge # 777 F & AM, and a member of the Freedom Baptist Church, Lawrenceburg. Survivors include: two daughters, Joyce Carol Logue and Reva Gale Spalding, both of Harrodsburg, two sisters, Nina Bottoms and Betty Coffman, both of Harrodsburg, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald Gene Burns. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, January 11th at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Bobby Logue and Elder J.D. Short, III. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery Pallbearers will be David Patrick, Armond Bottoms, Travis Lee Logue, Rick Moberly, Ralph Anderson, Terry Myers, Stanley Watts, and Marshall Sims, Jr. Honorary bearers will be Angie Stewart, nieces and nephews, and members of the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 pm Saturday and after 7:30 am Sunday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to one’s favorite charity.
