EDGAR LEE STAYTON Edgar Lee Stayton, 69, 719 Greenwood Drive, husband of Janet Smith Stayton, Harrodsburg, died Thursday, January 8, 2004 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington after an illness. Born March 4, 1934 in Marion County, he was the son of the late Charles and Josephine Wooley Stayton. He was an employee of G.T.E. Sylvania in Versailles, a US Navy and Air Force veteran of the Korean and Viet Nam Wars, a Kentucky Colonel, and a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he was a member and teacher of the Faith, Love, & Hope Sunday School Class. Survivors other than his wife include: one son, John Stayton, Danville; two daughters, Sonja and her husband Jeff Cloud, Lexington and Lisa Nan Pack, Springfield; two brothers, Charles Stayton, Louisville, and Robert Stayton, Cox’s Creek; four sisters, Betty Pendleton and Mary Frances Crenshaw both of Lebanon, Lois Lemon, Jeffersonville, IN, and Lou Mae Flener, Louisville and two grandchildren, Tamara Smith and Katherine Pack. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, January 11th at the Old Liberty Cemetery near Bradfordsville in Marion County by Dr. Robert Defoor. Burial will be in the Old Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Monty Smith, Kevin Smith, Scott Tylick, Pat Stayton, Terry Stayton, and John Stayton. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 pm Saturday at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel Memorial contributions are suggested to the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
