Obituary of Quentin Loval Gaskin

Quentin Gaskin, 87, of Harrodsburg, KY, died Monday, August 13, 2012, at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 26, 1924, in Jabez, KY, to C.A. and Opal Johnson Gaskin and was the oldest of four children.
He graduated from Somerset High School in 1941 and joined the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 4 years as a radio operator aboard the B29 Bomber known as the Flying Fortress. Upon honorable discharge from the service, he continued his education at the University of Kentucky, graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. During this time he married his wife of 65 years, Ruth Miller Gaskin, who survives and resides in Harrodsburg.
He was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church where he had taught Sunday School for 50 years and served as a Senior Deacon. He was also an expert golfer and accomplished guitarist.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Waldo Johnson Gaskin, Wallace Bruce Gaskin and Jeanne Gaskin Burton, and his son-in-law, Rick Miller of Stanley, VA. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter, Kay Gaskin Miller of Stanley, VA, and two grandchildren, Emily Craig Mueller (Jimmy) of Louisville, KY; and Lindsey Robin Miller of Winchester, VA. He was also expecting his first great-grandchild this October.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 15, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel in Harrodsburg. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, August 16, at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to Harrodsburg Baptist Church, 312 South Main Street, Harrodsburg, KY.
