Ruford D. Knox, age 76, Harrodsburg, husband of Doris Whalen Knox, died Thursday, September 6, 2012, in Harrodsburg, KY. Born December 3, 1935 in Powell County, KY, he was the son of the late Algin and Ada Kelly Knox. He was a retired IBM Company employee. Survivors include: his wife: Doris Whalen Knox and one son: Gary Lee (Wanda) Dixon; two sisters: Evelee Martin of Lexington, and Edith (Kenny) Lawson of Churubusco, IN; and two brothers: Edgar (Betty) Knox of Union, OH, Otis (Ilene) Knox of Harrodsburg, grandchildren: Matthew Lee (Olivia) Dixon and Sarah Elizabeth (Callee) Elam; great grandchildren: Zhane and William Jessie Elam. Predeceased by children: Garry Wayne Knox, and Brenda & Glenda Knox and a brother: Alfred Ray Knox. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 9 at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by George Dye with burial in the Knox Family Cemetery, Stanton, KY Pallbearers are: Wayne Bostic, Ottis Hood, Keith Helton, Matt Dixon, Chris Knox, and Marshall Thompson. Honorary bearers are: Jack Lindsey, Daniel Goodpaster, Colby Warren, Donald Boyd, J.L Maloney, Wimpy Whalen, Jimmy Maloney, Johnny Ellis and Raymond Hall. Visitation will be Saturday, September 8 from 5-8 pm with Masonic service at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY. There will be a visitation Monday at Davis and Davis Funeral Home in Stanton,KY. Memorial contributions may be sent to American Heart Association.
