Jim Drakeford, age 50, Harrodsburg, husband of Pamela G. Patterson Drakeford, died Thursday, September 13, 2012, in Lexington, KY. Born January 24, 1962 in Harrodsburg, KY, he was the son of the late Marion Thomas and Loretta Bennett Drakeford, of Harrodsburg. He was retired, was a member of the St. Andrew Catholic Church and had been a Little League Baseball coach for several years. He was also an avid UK fan and loved following his grandchildren in their sporting events. He was affectionately known as "Big Cheese" by his grandchildren. Other survivors include: a son, James Joseph (Kristy Straton) Drakeford, Jr. of Harrodsburg; one brother, Wendell Drakeford of Georgetown; three grandchild, Kaelin Joseph, Anna Katherine, and Ashton James Drakeford. He was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Drakeford, and a sister, Linda Drakeford. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, September 17 at the St. Andrew Catholic Church by Rev. Danny Schwendemann and Rev. Noel Zamora. Pallbearers are Bob Burton, Joe Wilson, Mike Harmon, David S. Patterson, Dustin Wilson, Wendell Drakeford, John Drakeford, Woody Drakeford, and Jerry Drakeford. Honorary bearers are Joe Wilson II, Josh Wilson, Austin Elliott, Dowell Harmon, Tyler Horn, and Rhett Drakeford. Visitation will be Sunday, September 16 from 5 - 8 PM at the Church. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Andrew Building Fund, 1125 Danville Road, Harrodsburg, KY 40330.
