Obituary of James "Doc" Holiday

James "Doc" Holiday James "Doc" Holiday, age 86, Harrodsburg, husband of Mary Alice Carey Holiday, died Friday, December 7, 2012, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville. Born October 26, 1926 in Washington County, KY, he was the son of the late Hansford and Ada Masters Holiday. He was the proprietor of many establishments serving the public in the auto and hospitality industries, most notably the Harrodsburg Bluegrass Motors and Pioneer Restaurant (which once served Elvis Presley) and the Fuzzy Peach Nightclub in Washington County. He was a skilled auto dealer, bus driver, pilot, musician, motorcyclist and aficionado of fine food, drink, bluegrass music and cheer. He never met a person he didn't Like. Other survivors include: four sons: Jimmy (Frances) Holiday, Dennis (Shannon) Holiday, Jerry Holiday, Billy (Barbara Robinson) Holiday all of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren, John (Donna) Holiday, Laila (Brian Stine) Holiday, Chrystal Nichole Holiday, Charles Brandon Holiday, Thomas (Christine) Holiday, James Tyson Holiday; six great grandchildren, and eight step great grandchildren, cousins, Jim (Joyce) Powell, Sue (Jack) Pearson and Joyce Keuhr. Graveside services 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 11 at the Peter's Cemetery in Mackville, by Brother Curtis Sims. Pallbearers: Billy Gilvin, Don Billy Yates, Jimmy Keller, Curtis Sims, Vernon McGuire, Darren Ransdell and Tony Royalty. Visitation will be Monday, December 10 from 5 - 8 PM at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg. Memorial contributions may be sent to Charity of One's Choice.
