Obituary of James L. TipToe Tewmey

James L. "TipToe" Tewmey, age 86, of Harrodsburg, husband of Flona "Flo" Kerr Tewmey, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born December 27, 1926 in Harrodsburg, KY, he was the son of the late James Garnett and the late Laura (Goodpaster) Tewmey.
He served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean War and was retired from RV Cablevision and Tewmey TV & Radio. He was a member of Harrodsburg Christian Church; The National Assoc. for Amateur Radio; VFW; American Legion Post 52; DAV; Charter Member of Mercer Co. Fish & Game Farm [Lake Named in his Honor - "James Tewmey Reservoir]; Avid Fisherman. Mr. Tewmey was able to communicate directly with the Russian Space Station "Mir" using his Amateur Radio skills.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Laura (Benny) Peyton of Danville, Lora Botner of Danville, Cindy (Steve) Probus of Orlando, FL; three sons, Gary Sanchez (Debbie) Tewmey of New Castle, CA, Jim (Teresa) Tewmey of Lebanon, TN, and Mike Tewmey of Harrodsburg; fourteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by grandchildren, Bennie Peyton, Chris Tewmey, and Silas Botner, as well as three sisters, Daisey Freeman, Irma Case, and Bessie Compton.
The funeral will be held 1:00 pm on Friday, February 22 at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, with Mike Crow and Keith Greer officiating. Visitation will be 10:30 am until time of service. Burial at Camp Nelson with Military Honors.
Pallbearers are: Wes and Mike Tewmey, Adam Botner, Rick Compton, Rob Probus, Andy Baker, and Steve Compton. Honorary bearers will be members of the VFW.
