Velma Jewell Pinkston, 92, of Mercer County, widow of Claudie Wilson Pinkston, died Monday, May 27, 2013, at her home. Born October 27, 1920 in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Minnie Darland Scott. She was a retired beautician and member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors include: one son, Charles S. (Paula) Pinkston, Willisburg; two daughters, Brenda (Pete) Thompson, Richmond, and Jane (Roney) Bottom, Harrodsburg; one brother, Winston Scott, Louisville; eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, C. B. and Rudolph Scott. Funeral services are 1 PM Friday, May 31, 2013, at the Bethel Baptist Church by John McDaniel and Lester Tirey. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Cemetery. Visitation 5-8 PM Thursday, Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Pallbearers are: Mike Reed, Gus Benson, Mark and Doug Bottom, Rob Bollinger, Bryan Keene, and Chris Thompson. Honorary bearers are: Jennifer Keene, Pamela Bollinger, Cindy Reed, Penny Simons, and Karen Benson. Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Bible Fund.
