James W. McKinney, 79, Harrodsburg, husband of Melinda Marie Jones McKinney, died Sunday, Aug 18 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville. Born May 4,1934, in Ft. Knox, KY, to the late Eugene and Hazel (Cox) McKinney. He served in the Army during Korean war. James was a member of the Stithton Baptist Church in Radcliff; a Thirty Third Degree Mason with the Mercer Masonic Lodge #777 F&AM; member of the Olekia Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite; Commander of the American Legion Post 341; member of the Valley of Lexington and Orient of Kentucky Valley. He was also a founding member of the Korean War National Museum, Life member of First Cavalry Division Association and Order of the Purple Heart. James retired as Equipment Supervisor for Tutt Construction. James is survived by: his wife: Melinda "Marie" (Jones) McKinney, two daughters: Dian Stivers of Paris, and Becky McKinney of Lexington; two sons: Steve (Melanie) McKinney and Chuck (Becky) McKinney both of Harrodsburg; two sisters: Rachael (Greg) Dearborn of Radcliff and Shirley (J.R.) Blanton of Vine Grove; one brother: Thomas (Betty) McKinney of Elizabethtown, Nine Grand Children; Eight Great Grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY. PAllbearers are: Nicki, David and Charlie McKinney, Nathan Stivers, Aubrey Lewis, and Donald Blanton. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 21; 11:00 am at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Craig Simon. Burial will follow in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Nicholasville. Memorial donations are to be directed to the charity of your choice.
