Obituary of William R. "Bill" Meredith

William R. "Bill" Meredith of Harrodsburg and Key West, FL, died Saturday at the The Hearth at Prestwick, Avon, IN.
Born Dec. 26, 1929, in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late William R. and the late Mildred Jackson Meredith. Bill received his BS in Commerce from the Univ. of KY and his Juris Doctorate from the Washington College of Law at American University in Washington DC. He practiced law in Washington, DC, Lexington, KY and Harrodsburg, KY over the years. Additionally, Bill served as a Trust officer with the Security Trust Company, Lexington, and VP and Trust Officer with American Security and Trust Co., Washington DC. He was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War, where he served as a Radio Intercept Operator for military intelligence, and later became the Republican candidate for U. S. Congress 6th District of Kentucky in 1972. Bill was a member of the St. Philip's Episcopal Church, Harrodsburg, and as the Bishop's Warden for several years.
William is survived by: one daughter, Sarah "Shelley" Dangerfield Meredith of Nashville, TN; a son, William R. Meredith, III, of Apex, NC; two sisters, Hope Ann Lowe, Lexington, and Mary Jane Allen, Avon, IN; his faithful Shitzu, Oreo. He was preceded in death by his companion for many years, Sheri Ann Scott
Services will be held 6 PM Mon., Sept. 16, 2013, at the St Philip's Episcopal Church, Harrodsburg, with burial to follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
His children invite family and friends for a gathering on Tues., Sept 17, 2013, 4PM to 9PM, Salt River Bottom Farm, 532 Kyle Ln., Harrodsburg. This will be a time to celebrate the life of Bill Meredith with barbecue, beverage and fellowship. Potluck is welcomed, but not necessary.
