Obituary of William Marvin Robinson

William Marvin Robinson, 70, of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Sunday October 20, 2013. Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his sons, Danny Dale and Robert Wayne; his daughter, Roni Simpson; his father, Owen and mother, Lillian Warner. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bonnie, daughter DeeDee (Trey) McCallie , brother Donald, and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, and extended family. Marvin was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. Marvin served in the US Air Force from 1962 thru 1966. After returning to Harrodsburg, he worked as a mail carrier for 36 years until he retired from the US Postal Service. He enjoyed collecting coins and stamps and was an active member of the Henry Clay Philatelic Society of Lexington, Kentucky. After working at the local and national level, one of his biggest accomplishments occurred with the issuing of the Fort Harrod 10 cent postage stamp which he was instrumental in the designing. He also enjoyed movies, gardening and working at the Farmer's Market. A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 2pm at SpringHill Cemetery. Immediately following the graveside service, there will be a celebration of life at James Harrod Conference Center at Old Fort Harrod State Park. All friends and family are invited to attend. Memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity. Ransdell Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
