Obituary of Hunter Berry Shewmaker

Hunter Berry Shewmaker, 78, Harrodsburg, husband of Sharon Anderson Shewmaker, died Wednesday at the Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born February 17,1936, in Harrodsburg, to the late Calvin M. and the late Hazel Tevis (Magee) Shewmaker. Berry served in the Navy during Korean War, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and was a huge UK Fan.
Berry retired as a Corrections Officer for Kentucky State Department of Corrections and also farmed for most of his life.
He is survived by: his wife: Sharon Louise (Anderson) Shewmaker and one son: Berry Todd Shewmaker of McMinville, TN, four brothers: C. M. Shewmaker of Lawrenceburg, KY, Horace Shewmaker of Valdosta, GA, Tom Shewmaker of Charlotte, SC, Robert Shewmaker of Harrodsburg, KY. Barry was preceded in death by two Sons: Hunter Berry Shewmaker, II and Joseph Patrick Shewmaker and a Brother: John William Shewmaker.
Visitation will be from 11-2 Saturday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg, KY.
Pallbearers will be: Robbie Shewmaker, Chris Sparrow, Aaron Shewmaker, Blake Shewmaker, Brian Shurr and Steve Morrison. Deacons of the Harrodsburg Christian church are to serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Rev. Johnny Hockersmith III and Berry Todd Shewmaker. Private burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg.
