Obituary of Willie B Horn

Willie B. Horn, 91, Harrodsburg, KY, husband of Ava Jewell Long Horn, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at the Haggin Memorial Hospital, Harrodsburg. Born July 18, 1923, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Obadiah "Obe" and Myrtle Royalty Horn Goodpaster, and step-son of Jesse Goodpaster. He was a retired farmer and owner of Town & Country Blacktop Sealing. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the Deacon Board, was a former assistant Sunday School teacher, and Trustee. Mr. Horn donated the land for the construction of the Calvary Church. He also served on the ASCS Board for some twenty years, and was a County Magistrate for several years. Other survivors include: one daughter: Brenda (Bill) Rogers of Harrodsburg, a sister: Katherine Short of Salvisa, and a brother: Clarence Goodpaster of Harrodsburg, three grandchildren: Will (Stephanie) Rogers; Dana (John) Perkins; and Lynette (Michael) Lawson; six great grandchildren. Willie was predeceased by a grandchild: Jessica Lawson, and two brothers: Marvin Horn, and Bobby Goodpaster. Visitation will be Tuesday after 4:00 PM at Ransdell Funeral Chapel, Harrodsburg. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Lester Caldwell, Daniel Smith and Ty Clenney. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers: Will Rogers, Donald Logue, Clarence Goodpaster, Eddie Sherrow, Don Horn, Miller Horn, Bill Horn and Kenny Goodpaster. Honorary bearers: Member's of the Adult Men's Sunday School class.
