SHERMAN SIRES, JR. Sherman Sires, Jr., 77, Boone Street, widower of Bessie Mae Lunsford Sires, died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital. Born February 2, 1927 at Alton Station, KY in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Sherman Sires, Sr. and Zula Elza Cox Sires. He was a retired security guard for Hallmack, Inc., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Survivors include: two step sons, Charles Yocum, Muncie, Indiana and Sidney Yocum, Harrodsburg; two step daughters, Nancy Yocum, Harrodsburg and Eugenia Rogers, Anderson County; three grandchildren, Christy Peach Hicks, Keith Edward Peach, and Dena Carol Cornish, and one nephew, Connie Carlton. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Thursday, March 18th at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Bro. James Harley. Burial will be in the Ebenezer Church of Christ Cemetery in Mercer Co. with military rites. Pallbearers are: Andrea & Jason Yocum, Cindy, Mathew, and Russell Sims, Lonnie and Dena Cornish, John and Kain Rogers, Lisa Riddle, James and Michael Logue, Tammy Dean, Vicky Warner, Christy Hicks, and Keith Peach. Honorary bearers are: Kerr and Lavania Riddle, Ashton and Allison Logue, Jennifer and Hannah Baker, Charles and Sherman Hicks, Dustin Griffieth, Barry Slaven, Sarah Todd, and Ashley, Kayla, Devin, and Mason Peach. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 am until the hour of service at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
