WILLIAM JEFFERSON SEXTON William Jefferson Sexton, 91, Haggin Hospital Extended Care, widower of Lula Mae Jenkins Sexton, died Thursday, March 18, 2004 at the extended care center. Born July 25, 1912 in Mercer County, he was the son of the late Jess and Lillie Hale Sexton. He was a retired farmer and member of the Hopewell Baptist Church. Survivors include: two sons, James and his wife Margaret Lee Sexton, Harrodsburg and David and his wife Brenda Sexton, Lexington; two half-brothers, Elmer Young, Jr., Stanford, and Marvin Young, Somerset; one half-sister, Irene Fields, Lancaster; a special friend, Frances Gritton, Mercer County; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one step great-grandchild, and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two half-brothers, Jesse and Bobby Young and two half-sisters, Dorothy Ramey and Mae Gerkey. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Sunday, March 21st at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Rev. Richard Easterling and Rev. Jerel Coffey. Burial will be in the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are: David, Donald, Dale, and Michael Sexton, John Hagman, and Terry Yates. Honorary bearers are: W.H. “Boots” Miller, Aaron Gray, Lewis Sea, J.H. Whitenack, Dr. Richard Dartt, Donald Green, Carroll Sanford, Jack Woods, James May, Jack Murphy, Marion Inman, Hugh Pierce, Paul Waldridge, Jimmy Burns, Charles Keller,Walter Delbert Reynolds, and Earl Franklin Ransdell. Visitation will be after 5:00 pm Saturday and after 7:30 am Sunday at the chapel. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gideon’s Bible Fund, the Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to the Haggin Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility.
